I'm never gonna patronise Jack's Place again. Ever. The last time they served me raw chicken when i was having lunch over there with shiya in sec1. That was bad enough; i was too small to complain. But this..this is the last straw. The steak they served this time was so raw, you can practically see the white stringy bits in the red red meat, and it looked so disgusting i immediately felt nauseous. SO. I sent it back complaining it was too raw for medium-well done. And so guess what, they sent my half-eaten steak back to me later on with it overcooked, rubberised and too-chewy for a good piece of steak. My gad. And if that wasn't enough, dessert was liquefied rose-coloured gooey water intended to be eaten as jelly. I completely lost my appetite when my mum asked "Is it starch water?" Henceforth, i shall eat my steaks at Phin's Steakhouse and only at Phin's thank you. And for those of you who haven't heard, i shall help my dearest brother announce it: i'm gonna be an aunt by the end of this year! :) To be more precise, it's more like the october or november period. Something told me i was being too excited about it, when, after hearing the news myself, i dreamt that night that I was pregnant too and the whole way, i was killing myself wondering how on earth i got pregnant when in the first place i didn't even do it. :) Muahs. Anyway, i just hope fervently that my niece/nephew doesn't inherit the Tan family's pudgy nose or fat cheeks. It'd be for its own good if he/she looks more like christine. :) Me and my sis made a deal that we'll bring heshe to the zoo and be very very good aunties when the baby is older. Yay!! :) I really really really can't wait.

 Our first valentine's!
Friday, February 11, 2005 | Friday, February 11, 2005
The human heart is seriously one hell of an irritating piece of muscle. Cny was good. It made me appreciate how uneasily available money really is. In the space of 2 days, i collected a sum 2/3s of what i painstakingly spent half a month working for. Plus i saw some really really nice new houses which made me go green. S'pore is really too small an isle already. Only today did i know that pastor erick is actually my uncle, like four times removed! And along those same family lines, weisheng's my cousin too! Someday everyone better be careful. You might just end up marrying your aunt or uncle. Hehe. Tmr's cell bbq! Hope the weather remains good.

I'm freeee..! At least till 15 feb. Most companies are given the whole week off next week anyway too i suppose. Boss also doesn't think it's auspicious to start work on the 14th, so everyone got forced to take compulosry leave this Valentine's Day. Muahah. Sigh people come and go at work. Wish it didn't have to be so often though. I'll miss dennis and his lame jokes, especially his lame game we play whenever Boss isn't walking around. Now i'm all alone in my little corner. :( Me and vicki resort to using sign language since we're both located at opposite ends of the room. I hope some nice person gets assigned to the cubicle beside me soon. One thing about telemarketing is that you get to meet a whole range of people. Most of em are educated, so i hardly get people slamming down the phone on me. Some will just mechanically repeat 'sorry i'm not interested', hoping i'd take the hint and shut up haha. Some do listen politely and are genuinely interested. Some, i have to chase for weeks just to get them to fax back their application forms or documents. COUGHjessie! Some are touched by how i call them every single day to check if they're free to discuss signing up/if they've read the brief details, so much so that, in this one instance, the guy actually thought i was after him and invited me to a french dinner! And some give me parental advice like, never ever live on credit etc etc. So having this kind of job actually is kinda spicy, even if it's all through the phone. :) Oh yes, went to do/eat the lao yi shen today for the first time in my life. There were three tables full of nathan's colleagues...and the girlfriends. Note the two distinct categories. Of course, there was the minor little upset when two of the girls there thought i was still studying in secondary school, but apart from that, it wasn't as bad as i expected. What it has made me determined to do, however, is to spend up to 1/3 of my paycheck on my hair, if not in a desperate attempt to look more my age. Red, brown, gray, purple or yellow hair? This is so exciting. My uncle James was a terrible man
He put his wife in a frying pan
She was too tender to bake or boil
So he cooked her up in peanut oil. Just one of the many poems i learnt as a kid (and still remember!) with that cannibalistic element in them. :)
